My skin has been feeling so dry lately. Usually, during winter time the skin tends to suffer. But this winter my skin has been really dry- more than usual. So, I decided to do some research on how to up the skin game and tried out different products and techniques. Read below on some tricks so you can also have healthy skin during winter.
How to Up the Skin Game During Winter
1- Exfoliate and moisturize: exfoliation should be a part of your skin care regimen. But it’s even more necessary during winter when the skin is drier, and it’s not limited to your face. When your skin feels dry, a weekly gentle exfoliation helps to remove dry, dead skin cells. I swear by this exfoliating treatment by Kate Somerville. I use it in the shower once a week. A great moisturizer is definitely a must. This shea butter ultra rich comforting cream by L’Occitane has saved my skin this winter. I use it daily in the morning and at night. A quick tip, this time of year one should avoid really hot showers as it breaks down the lipid barrier and leads to the even drier skin.
2- Invest in a humidifier: I can’t stress enough how big of a difference a humidifier can make. It helps to add back some moisture to the air in your home. I put mine in my bedroom so it works while I sleep.
3- change your beauty products: this time of year, it’s best to use heavier moisturizers and body oils. My go to’s are shea ultra rich body cream and almond supple skin oil by L’Occitane. I’ve actually been using these products for years to keep my skin soft and moisturized. If I need something a little heavier for parts of my skin that are drier, I use the pure shea butter by L’Occitane.
4- Overnight mask: an overnight mask helps to hydrate and rejuvenate while you are sleeping. So, you wake up with a refreshed skin. One of my favorites is the watermelon glow mask by Glow Recipe.
